Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I recently read an article by Dereck Gehl that answers a question I get asked almost daily:

He says it better than I ever can –

Here is a brief excerpt from his article:

“… because you’re SEVEN TIMES more likely to get a visitor through the organic (free) search engines than through a pay-per-click ad!

You can’t afford NOT to spend as much time as possible improving your site’s overall search engine performance.

With that in mind, here are my TOP THREE recommendations for improving your free traffic using the search engines…”

OVER 2.5 YEARS AGO:

I recently discovered an article written by Steve Pavlina over 2.5 years ago, thats an eternity in the internet world, talking about how to build a high-traffic website or blog that starts with the following quote…..

“Since posting my 2005 traffic figures recently, I’ve received many questions about how I was able to start this web site from scratch and build its traffic to over 700,000 visitors per month (Jan 2006 projection) in about 15 months — without spending any money on marketing or promotion.  Building a high-traffic web site was my intention from the very beginning, so I don’t think this result was accidental. My traffic-building strategy isn’t based on tricks or techniques that will go out of style.”  …..Steve Pavlina, Jan 24, 2006

He went on to outline ten (10) suggestions for building a high-traffic website

- Create valuable, original, timeless content (3)

- Treat visitors like humans, write for them, be your real self, help people first (4)

- Know your [WHY], what your truth is, and live with consequences (2)

- Keep money in proper place (1)

To summarize, I believe he said: Be true to yourself, provide real value, help others through your writings, and by understanding your own uniquenes, the rest will follow.
OVER 2.5 DAYS AGO

I also suffered through the onslaught of hype online recently promoting the latest launch of website traffic building products or courses such as Traffic Secrets 2.0, and Traffic Manifesto 2.0 - both of which are excellent products by the way…..both focus on how to get more and better traffic to your website, through regular quality content distribution, as well as covering all the latest ‘technological” methods using Web 2.0 social sites, and more.

They each have their own marketing strategy, and distinctive price points, $397, and $37 respectively, and both are selling extremely well according to the buzz online…

OVER 2.5 MINUTES AGO

I remembered, we can all benefit from studying and applying what other successful people teach, but we must not lose sight of our own very real [WHY]….

Do you remember what your [WHY] is?

Read the rest of Steve’s article and maybe you will realize [WHY] that  [WHY] is so critical to your own personal development and success…….

The more things change, the more they remain the same…..

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I am not sure if the tool itself will improve your search engine rankings directly, but it is a great tool to view where your competition are ranking…a vital piece of research to determine your niche, your keywords, and marketing strategies.

“If you do not know where you are, how can you find  your way to  “creating profits online.”

Check it out for yourself here now:

==>> Search Engine Rankings - Instant, online reports of web site rankings in 9 top search engines and web directories, including Google, Yahoo! Search, MSN, AOL, AltaVista, AllTheWeb, Yahoo! Directory, Open Directory (Dmoz), and LookSmart.

Do a quick search engine ranking test : Google “profits online” and you will find my site in position 5…not too bad for writing and submitting a few articles over the past  few  months…also notice an article of mine in position 6…as of today….now do the same thing on your primary keyword phrase.

For some reason though, the demand for “profits online” [12] is not as important as “money online”[78]….I wonder why that is ?

Question of the Day?

Would you rather “create profits online” or “make money online”?
