Free SEO Traffic to Your Website

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I recently read an article by Dereck Gehl that answers a question I get asked almost daily:

He says it better than I ever can –

Here is a brief excerpt from his article:

“… because you’re SEVEN TIMES more likely to get a visitor through the organic (free) search engines than through a pay-per-click ad!

You can’t afford NOT to spend as much time as possible improving your site’s overall search engine performance.

With that in mind, here are my TOP THREE recommendations for improving your free traffic using the search engines…”

Traffic Generation - Planning to get Web Site Traffic - Part IV

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

What is your # 1 worry about what’s happening to your online business?

  • Are you anxious about how well your web site is performing?
  • Are you feeling that your marketing is just not paying off again?
  • Are you concerned your sales are just not happening this month?

So what are you planning to do about it? Keep on worrying?

First, what do you have to start with?

Traffic generation is the one part of the internet marketing puzzle, that without it nothing else can possibly happen, so it always has to be your first priority. So not matter what your # 1 worry is, you need to plan to get quality web site traffic.

  • - Have you got any record of the average # of unique visits to your main web site?
  • - Have you got a record of your advertising costs?
  • - Have you calculated your profits online from last months sales yet?
  • - How many visitors have you added to your opt-in email list

Example: Lets say you have:

A - 6000 visitors @ 1% conversion = 60 sales

B - 3000 visitors @ 2% conversion = 60 sales

C - 2000 visitors @ 3% conversion = 60 sales

Your Gross Income for each group = $1200

A - 6000 @ 1% visitors Cost $0.30 = $1800 >> $ 600.00 LOSS

B - 3000 @ 2% visitors Cost $0.30 = $ 900 >> $ 300.00 Profit

C - 2000 @ 3% visitors Cost $0.30 = $ 600 >> $ 600.00 Profit

Well, of course you would love to have 6000, 3000, or even 2000 web site visitors a month even you say…

Show it to me then, better yet show it to yourself which group of site visitors you would rather have next month… A, B, or C….it is your choice!

Then create a real written down plan and schedule of activity that is focused on generating the source of web site traffic that you choose - A, B, or C .

Hope your business is going well

Traffic Generation - Planning to get Web Site Traffic - Part III

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Do you have a written down plan to get more web site traffic? ….No!

That’s ok then! That plan will work just fine for you then, you will succeed and get no more web site traffic, that was your plan after all. None! No Plan = No More Traffic!

What do you want?

More traffic…YES or NO, It’s your choice after all.

Yes, good, then write down what you want by setting a measurable web site traffic target . Let’s just say you want 500 unique visitors per day, or 6500 unique visitors per month.

Traffic generation is only one of the three legs of the internet marketing stool, but without it the other two can not possibly not happen, so it has to be your first priority.

So if you are getting 50 unique web site visitors a day now, and you want 500 what do you have to do first?

Do ten times (10x) as much as you are doing to get 50, assuming you know where you are getting the 50 visitors from now. Use your web site stats to get an idea where your traffic is coming from (referrer), then write down and schedule activities to do every week to get more visits from those referrers.

Example:

You are getting  80% of your visitors from articles you write, that’s 40 of the 50, and you were writing 3 articles a week for the past 20 weeks.

Schedule yourself to write 30 articles a week (3 x 10), and track your results for the next 30 days, repeat until you get to 500 unique visitors per day

Test Any Plan = Many More Web Site Traffic Visitors

Do you need more traffic to your web site fast?

You think, if you could just get more traffic to your web site, you could make more money this month, but it just never quite seems to work that way… the more web site traffic you get the higher your advertising costs go usually.

Do you have a plan to get more web site traffic?

Well, of course you do, you say… Show it to me then, better yet show it to yourself …a real written down schedule of weekly activity that is focused on web site traffic generation

  1. What do you want?
  2. What do you have?
  3. What do you need?
  4. Where are you going to get it?
  5. What will you do with it?

What do you want? - more traffic…NO. I mean define what you want by setting a measurable target ( i.e. - 500 unique visitors per day, or 6500 unique visitors per month)

What do you have? - Write down what your daily or monthly average unique visits to your main web site page, Ad costs, Traffic Sources ( i.e. - Today’s Date = 97 Unique, June 1736 Unique, June Ad Cost = $xxx, PPC, articles, forums, etc)

What do you need? - do you need more visits, more conversions, more sales, or what? What is each visitor worth to you, do you know? You need to track your web site traffic sources, and find out which ones are actually working.

Where are you going to get it? - the four best sources of free quality traffic generation that I learned to use from my mentor are article marketing, JV, Press releases, and SEO - You must generate quality web site traffic not buy cheap traffic.

What will you do with it? - How are you going to convert more unique visitors into profitable sales? Getting more sales is the real goal, not just more traffic to your web site. And yes, you must capture visitor contact information, so you can follow up with the 95% that did not buy on their first visit.

How to Boost Profits Online Without Increased Web Site Traffic

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Yes everybody wants more website traffic, me too, but what is happening with the web site traffic you are already getting. The most common answer I hear, is you not getting enough sales from the website traffic you are already struggling to get.

So, I say again what’s happening with the traffic you are already getting, and most marketers are stuck for a real answer at this point.

Ok, here is some help then:

Are you tracking your website traffic conversion rates through these steps in your sales funnel? If you are not - start today!!

  1. Unique Visitors each website traffic source
  2. Conversion to Subscribers
  3. Total Subscribers
  4. Follow-up Emails Opened
  5. Follow-up Emails Clicked Thru
  6. Conversion of Subscribers to First Sale
  7. Total 1st Buyers
  8. Conversion of 1st Buyer to Priority Buyer
  9. Total Priority Buyers
  10. Total Revenue

You need to test every conversion step, and by split testing ads, titles, subject lines, and every variable you can you can make incremental improvements to your conversion rates that will have an exponential impact on your revenue.

Example:

Case 1:

  • 1000 visitors opt-in at 0.1 = 100 subs
  • 100 subs at 0.1 = 10 initial sales @ $10
  • 10 initial buyers buy again at 0.3 = 3 priority buyers @ $100
  • Total Revenue = $400

Case 2:

  • 1000 visitors opt-in at 0.3 = 300 subs
  • 100 subs at 0.1 = 30 initial sales @ $10
  • 10 initial buyers buy again at 0.3 = 9 priority buyers @ $100
  • Total Revenue = $1200

By improving an existing traffic source’s conversion rate from 1-0 - 30% or finding a different source that converts at 30% you have improved your profits online from $400 to $1200, an increase of $800 revenue.

My personal experience from well written articles and article marketing strategy is a conversion to subscriber rate of 30-40% routinely.
